2024 Fall Baseball

Mondays & Wednesdays: August 19-October 7

DYA Fall Baseball is a two-day-a-week recreational program consisting of 4 preseason practices and up to 10 games. All activities are held on Monday & Wednesday evenings. The program is open to pre-K through 9th grade boys & girls and consists of 6 divisions. Players must be registered to play with their grade level.

Leagues & Grade Level (2024-2025 school year):
Wiffle Ball League: Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten
Rookie Coach Pitch League: Kindergarten/1st Grade
Class A Coach Pitch League: 2nd/3rd Grade
Class AA League: 4th/5th Grade
Class AAA League: 6th/7th Grade
Junior Pony League: 8th/9th Grade

Wiffle Ball League: Teams are scheduled for 4 preseason practices and 8 games (2 per week). Practices and games occur on Mondays & Wednesdays beginning August 19. Practices are held on August 19, 21, 26, & 28. Practices are 1 hour in length and start times vary (5:30 PM or 6:30 PM). Games begin September 4 at 6:15 PM with a 1-hour time limit. Practices and games take place at Scottish Corners Elementary and Wyandot Elementary. The season is scheduled to end September 30. Wiffle Ball is for youths who are pre-kindergartners in the season of play and are entering kindergarten in fall 2025 or are currently in kindergarten.

Rookie Coach Pitch & Class A Coach Pitch Leagues: Teams are scheduled for 4 preseason practices and 10 games (2 per week). Practices and games occur on Mondays & Wednesdays beginning August 19. Practices are held on August 19, 21, 26, & 28. Practices are 90 minutes in length and start times vary (5:30 PM or 7:00 PM). Games begin September 4 at 6:15 PM with a 1½ hour time limit. Late-season games played on fields without lights may begin as early as 5:30 PM to complete before darkness. Practices and games take place at Avery Park, Darree Fields, Emerald Fields, Scottish Corners Elementary, and Wyandot Elementary. The season is scheduled to end October 7. Kindergartners may choose to play Wiffle Ball or Rookie Coach Pitch.

Rainouts & Rescheduling: Games rained out will be postponed to the end of the season.

League Fee: $90, plus the cost of jerseys, if you need them.

Jerseys: All players are required to wear the DYA green (home) or gray (away) baseball jersey for league play. The jerseys are the same as last year. The cost is $40 to purchase the pair of jerseys. DYA Baseball jerseys were redesigned in Spring 2023. Click HERE to view the design. This season, players have the option to wear either the older pre-2023 design or the newer design.

Equipment: Batting helmets, catcher's equipment (chest protector, shin guards, helmet, and catcher's mitt) and baseballs are provided by DYA.

Cleats are strongly recommended for all K-9th grade players. Metal cleats are not allowed in Rookie Coach Pitch, Class A, AA, or AAA. Metal cleats are legal in Junior Pony. Players are required to wear the DYA Baseball green (home) or gray (away) game jersey, baseball pants (gray, white, or black), and must wear a hat and glove in the field. These items are not included in the registration fee.

For Wiffle Ball, parents should provide baseball pants and playing shoes (tennis shoes or cleats).

Bat Information (K-9th Grade): DYA has fully transitioned to the 2018 USA Baseball Bat Standard (USABat). If you are purchasing a new baseball bat, purchase one with the USA Baseball Logo. Visit the USA Baseball Website for more information: http://usabat.com. 8th/9th Grade participants may use a USABat, BBCOR -3 or wood bat. DYA encourages the sharing of bats with teammates who may not have one.

Coaches Needed: Dublin Youth Athletics is a volunteer organization of parents providing sports programs for kids. Parents can register to coach their child's team during player registration or by clicking "Volunteer" on the user account page at DYA.comCoaches Corner

Teammate/Coach Requests: Teams in the 3rd grade & younger leagues are assigned by the league office and all teammate/coach requests are usually able to be granted. For 4th grade and older leagues, DYA will honor up to two teammate requests per player. These requests must be mutual to be considered. The intent is to help kids play with their friends. DYA reserves the right to place limits on requests if the rules are being utilized to build teams for reasons other than stated. Be sure to include any teammate/coach requests on the registration form. To add teammate/coach requests after registering, email the DYA Office at [email protected].

Standings/Tournament: There are no standings and no postseason tournament for Fall Baseball.

Class AA, Class AAA, Junior Pony: Monday, August 12, 7:30 PM to 8:15 PM @ DYA Office
Team Notification: Families will be notified of their team placement and roster a day or two following the preseason coaches' meetings.

Avery Park, Darree Fields and Emerald Fields have automated external defibrillators (AEDs) available in case of emergency. AEDs are portable, life-saving devices designed to treat people experiencing sudden cardiac arrest, a medical condition in which the heart stops beating suddenly and unexpectedly. Concessions/Snack Bar: The Avery Park concession stands will be open on all game nights. All proceeds from concession stand sales benefit the DYA Scholarship Fund. 2024 DYA Concessions Menu (PDF)

Umpires: Class AA, Class AAA, and Junior Pony League games are officiated by youth umpires.

Standings/Tournament:
There are no standings and no postseason tournament for Fall Baseball.

Do you reside outside of DYA boundaries?: This program is open to all families residing within the boundaries of the Dublin City School District or within the City of Dublin. Out of boundary families may participate if there is space available in their child's league. Out of boundary families must pay a $100 out of boundary fee per child to play. This fee does not apply to out of boundary participants that attend school in Dublin.
