Dublin Select Softball - Tryout Information for the 2024 Season

All players interested in trying out for a 2024 Dublin Select Softball team are required to register in advance at There will be no registrations taken at the field.

Dublin Select Softball Divisions:
10U - Date of birth 2013 and after
12U - Date of birth 2011 and after
14U - Date of birth 2009 and after
16U - Date of birth 2007 and after

Players qualify for age divisions based on their age on January 1, 2024.

10U: Originally scheduled tryouts - Thursday, July 20, 2023, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
Make-up tryouts (for those that did not attend on July 20) - Wednesday, August 2, 2023, 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM

12U: Originally scheduled tryouts - Thursday, July 20, 2023, 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM [Partially Rained Out]

Tryout location (all age groups): Darree Fields (6259 Cosgray Rd) diamonds #16 & #17

All players should arrive to tryouts at least 20 minutes prior to the tryout time to check in and warm up. Overruns in tryout schedules may occur based on the number of girls trying out.

Tryout registration fee: $10. This is a one-time fee that will not be part of the fees if an offer is made.

Do you reside outside of DYA boundaries?: This program is open to all families residing within the boundaries of the Dublin City School District or within the City of Dublin. Roster spots are filled by those who reside within DYA boundaries first for 10U & 12U. The 14U and 16U teams can contain up to 3 out-of-boundary residents based on scoring. Any additional openings may then be filled by out-of-boundary residents to complete a team. Out of boundary families must pay a $100 out of boundary fee per child to play. This fee does not apply to out of boundary participants that attend school in Dublin.

Dublin Select Softball

Dublin Select Softball is dedicated to advancing the skills, knowledge and confidence of softball players in the Dublin community. Our program focuses on the fundamental, physical, and mental skills needed to escalate the girls to the next level of competitive fast pitch softball. The majority of the young athletes that play on the softball diamonds and walk the halls at Dublin Coffman, Dublin Jerome and Dublin Scioto high schools have gone through the Dublin Select Softball Program and many more have gone on to play at the college level.

We are not your ordinary Travel softball program. Dublin Select Softball also provides your daughters an opportunity to not only advance their softball skills to the next level, but a chance for community outreach and give back to their community.

Player Selection & Commitment:
Players are selected to participate in the Dublin Select Softball program through an evaluation and selection process. Girls who are selected to participate in the Dublin Select Softball program must be willing to make a substantial commitment of time to the team. Attendance at practices, games, and functions is expected.

Roster sizes are designed to maximize playing time and will typically be limited to 11 players (a 12th player may be considered depending on the age group). Commitment from players is essential in developing teams and ensuring that roster sizes at these levels can be maintained. Routine absences and lack of commitment impact the development of the entire team. Girls that are routinely missing practices and/or games may have playing times reduced, and placement on future teams may be adjusted accordingly.

Fees: There is a registration fee of $10 to try out for the 2023-2024 season. Once the player has made a team, there is a playing fee of $500 paid in two installments during the summer and fall months. After players have made teams, parents will need to pay the $200 commitment fee immediately. The remaining $300 fee will be paid in the fall.

The Dublin Select Softball fee is designed to cover ordinary team expenses during the season (equipment, uniforms, indoor practice facility rental, field rental, league fees, tournament fees, umpires, etc.)

Uniforms will be provided to each player that is new to the program and returning players that did not receive new uniforms for the 2023 season, or they will be available for purchase.

Practice/Game Information: Practice and game schedules vary depending on each individual team; however, they do follow along the same guidelines. League play typically begins during the last week of May and continues through the middle of July. Teams will choose to play in tournaments in addition to league play. Each team will choose their own tournaments based on the location and the skill competition level desired by each team.

U10, U12, and U14 teams play a combination of league play, two nights per week (Mondays and Wednesdays or Tuesdays and Thursdays), and some tournaments, depending upon the team’s competitive level. Teams may also elect to play one night per week in league and play in more tournaments. U16 play one league night per week.

Most practices and home games are held at Darree Fields diamonds #16 & #17.

Teams typically hold practices throughout the winter and spring. The number of practice sessions will increase during the spring and prior to the season. Select teams with players playing on middle school or high school teams will hold practice sessions throughout the winter until tryouts begin for school ball and will resume once released from their school teams. Dublin Select Softball does not interfere with middle school and high school softball.

• Mannino's Indoor League (optional by team)
→ 5 weeks each, 4-6 players per team
→ Live pitcher, catcher, batter, umpire in batting tunnel
→ Additional Fees: Estimated $70-$100 per player based on team size
• 4-8 Indoor practices (Dublin gymnasiums & Mannino's Grand Slam facility)

→ 8 weeks, Sundays for 45 minutes with paid instructors
